There is an old statement that says A child makes love stronger, days shorter, evenings longer, bankroll more modest, home more joyful, clothes better, the past forgotten and the future worth living for.”.

Today we observe National Sons Day. National Sons Day is observed on March fourth, a day to celebrate and perceive the unique significance and meaning of being a son and raising a son. In today’s times it has become important to express how much you love your children and family. The connection between a mother and child endures forever, it stays unaltered by time and distance and it is the most purest of love. I have been honored to have three sons of my own. Each one extraordinary in their own exceptional manner.

Their connection between one another impacted me to compose a book called I’m A Little Big Brother. A book about the journey of two brothers as they explore their imagination going on fun adventures together. I’m A Little Big Brother highlights the unconditional love that one brother has learning about his brother’s Autism. I am so proud it has touched the lives of so many siblings around the world.

The late great Langston Hughes composed an enabling sonnet called Mother to son which highlights the struggles and hardships a mother endures yet, she empowers her son to overcome all odds no matter how testing life can be. I performed this piece in 1995 in Compton California at Our Lady Of Victory Catholic School. Years later I can still recite it with my eyes close and read it to my son, with a comprehensive understanding of it’s meaning. The word son is a word of endearment that describes the descriptions of ones male child. On this uplifting holiday we celebrate our sons. My personal journey with my sons has allowed me to be receptive when they need me and allow our relationship to fully grow, for the first relationship any male has in life begins with the relationship he has with his very own mother .

Here are some great things to do celebrating National Sons Day:

#1. Plan a family movie night of all his number one motion pictures or shows

#2.Order pizza or make a frozen yogurt parfait

#3. Make him an Award featuring why he is the best child on the planet.

#4. Spend time doing things he loves

#5. Give him social praise for being a wonderful child

During this time we are limited to doing customary things however being creative at home can show your son the size of adoration you have in your heart for him, remember celebrating your son is a sign of giving him all the love he needs in order for him to one day become a good parent like you.
